I went on a strange journey the other day. It started with wondering over to The Confessions of a Hedge Witch Blog, and specifically her post my night in the mound. There was a video linked which I will also link here. I found it fascinating. I love standing stones, this is no secret. I want to live somewhere that I can put up my own. What struck me about this video was the location mentioned called Seahenge.

I know I love Stonehenge, but what I loved about this Documentary was being introduced to so many other interesting sites. I have a very good friend who is an Archaeologist trained in England and you can bet this video is sitting in his inbox with a note that says “How much is arm waving bull shit?” because lets face it, its made for the general public and for some reason TV producers don’t think the truth is interesting enough….
The site like I said that most caught my eye was Seahenge. Seahenge is located in Norfolk England, in the town of Holme-next-the-Sea. This is a early Bronze Age timber circle. The site consists of a ring of logs with a large inverted oak stump.
Location Map, because.
Seahenge (I think this is a reconstruction)

The work to preserve the wood (that would have quickly started to degrade since being exposed) was protested (of course), but it is not preserved. There is an excellent write up on the Open University page Here
Anyways I will let you know what the archaeology friend says!
